Personality
Aoi is not your typical man. This much is obvious by his long hair, feminine features, and how he dresses. In fact, Aoi purposefully let himself look like this when he could have used the money of his family to make himself more... Masculine. However, you cannot change the way you are just by a little plastic surgery. Due to his loving grandmother who treated him more like a little girl than a boy, Aoi started off early with the whole "girl in a man's body" sort of deal. He cleans, he cooks, and he even does the laundry correctly, everything a woman is supposed to do in a traditional family. His femininity does not stop there. He holds himself with an air of grace, walking with his head held high. He does not let anything break the mask he has worked hard to create, the mask of a true "mistress." Polite, graceful, and soft spoken when he needs to be, it isn't hard to actually mistake him for a lady.
Despite this, he sometimes allows his mask to drop while in the presence of certain people or if his emotions are able to get the best of him. This is rare, though, as he usually has his emotions in check. When the mask is dropped, Aoi can quickly become your worst nightmare. Sickly sweet smiles with hidden threats, a soft touch that ends in pain as his long nails reach for your throat: his anger is something to be feared. Do not let his "fairy princess" title fool you. He is ruthless when upset, and he isn't afraid to resort to violence. Once you get on his bad side, it is hard to make him see the light again. For those who have witnessed his fury, they tend to do whatever it takes to stay on his good side. This can often be counterproductive as he gets annoyed easily, though he uses this to his advantage to boss people around as if they were his servants.
Aoi may not look like it when you first meet him, but he is a broken man. The only human he has ever truly grown close to was his grandmother, and his only physical tie to her, other than his femininity, was taken away by the very family that has shunned him even to this day. He finds darkness within the hearts of everyone, and it makes him trust very few unless they have proven themselves to him. The only time he wears a true smile is when he believes he is alone with his dear fae. No human being has been allowed into his heart since the death of his grandmother, and he provides little chance for anyone else to enter.
extras:
-- knows Japanese, English, and a bit of French (from traveling in Kalos)
-- knows how to play the piano, harp, biwa, koto, kugo, kokyu, and various fue (Japanese flutes)
-- often sings to himself and his faries when no one is around

History
Born into a prestigious family in the Kanto-Johto continent, Aoi did not get the happy life many would believe he would. His family was rich, owning an international chain of restaurants and clothing lines. Because of both sides of the business, his parents were rarely home. In fact, he was rarely home. His grandmother raised him instead of his parents. They dumped him off at his grandmother's traditionally styled home just outside of Ecruteak City. His only happy memories occurred inside the home of his grandmother's. She taught him a variety of life skills, such as cleaning, cooking, and even how to do the laundry. Normally, for an elderly woman who believed in the traditional ways, she would only bother teaching this to the girls of the household. However, she was stuck with Aoi. He was feminine from the start, regardless, so she treated him more like a granddaughter than a grandson. He wouldn't have it any other way, looking back on it now.
His happiness ran short when his grandmother was taken from him when he was only ten years old. The old woman died of a heart attack, and the doctors said that it had only been a matter of time before it happened. Without a willing relative to dump him off at, his parents had to find others means of "caring" for Aoi while they worked. He spent little time at the house once more as they sent him off to boarding school. He only returned home on breaks for holidays, though he often returned to his grandmother's house (which she had left in his name) to spend it there. He always hated going back to the boarding school. They nagged him constantly to cut his hair and start "acting like a boy," but he would not obey. To him, this was his final tie to his grandmother, besides the house in Ecruteak City. Slowly, his hair grew longer and longer to the point where he had to start putting it up in ponytail holders or just let it remain free around his shoulders and down his back. The boarding school hated him, and he hated the school. He was glad to graduate early, having obtained enough credits by taking extra courses over the summer. Instead of heading home like he was supposed to, he headed to his grandmother's house.
When he arrived, the house was no longer there. The lot was cleared, and a sign posted said that a new Yoshida restaurant was to be built there. He was furious. The house would have officially been his after his eighteenth birthday, yet his parents went ahead and destroyed his sanctuary regardless of legal issues that would arise. Then again, they were technically in charge of the lot until his eighteenth birthday came around... He didn't take action, though. There was no point in going up against his parents who could just pay for some lawyer to find loopholes so they could win the case. No, instead, he left the region. He headed off to the nearest region to get away from his family. Of course, their business empire spread far across the globe, so truly escaping them was pointless. A year later, he stopped running and started an actual journey, one he had been denied the privilege of having when he was sent off to boarding school.
Obtaining a starter Pokemon was easy. Getting through the Pokemon League was the hard part. He traveled around, growing stronger and obtaining new Pokemon. He only challenged gyms when he happened across them, wandering aimlessly until he had somehow managed to obtain the eight badges necessary. He took on the Pokemon League of one region, losing to the champion. He then took on the League of another region. He repeated the process, League after League, region after region. As he gained more experience, he found that his success rate increased. There were several regions where he obtained the title of champion, but he was quick to let someone else steal the title. He did not like having a title that was so easily lost, and that was one of the reasons why he would leave for another region the moment he could.
At twenty-one, he found himself in the Kochi region. He easily progressed through their League, though he lost to their champion. It was a close match, and, afterwards, he was approached by one of the Elite Four members. He was offered their position. He was more than qualified to be a gym leader, having already completed so many different Leagues. That member of the Elite Four was looking to retire, though they only wanted someone they chose to take their place, rather than some random person the League chose. Aoi decided it was time he settled down, and the Kochi region seemed like a nice enough place. Accepting the offer, Aoi filled out the necessary legal papers and became an Elite Four member. After around a year of taking on challengers, he was given a title or sorts: the fairy princess. Yes, yes. Many of his challengers mistook his gender, but he never bothered to correct them.
